Deckspace opened in the spring of 2001 in leafy Greenwich, a full year after the close of the century, the proto cybercafe and first SPC place ‘Backspace’

The contrasts couldn’t have been more extreme, far from the thronging of Clink Street and out of reach for all but the most ardent initiates up ‘too many stairs’ but compelling for its incomparable views and unique setting in the Deco projection suite of Borough Hall 1938.

Slowly we built a flush of active subscribers and regular hosts to rekindle the spirit of its predecessor whilst celebrating its quite different sense of purpose and position.
